We have developed and formed a bow and keel protector to fit the Native Watercraft Slayer 13. This will protect your kayak from wear and scratches which could over time cause leaking and failure of the hull requiring costly plastic welding.
The Front Native Watercraft Slayer 13 Bumper Bro Keel Guard is an easy part to install. We recommend using Marine Goop for the installation or another adhesive that will not damage the HDPE kayak.
- Evenly spread the Goop along the centre of the bumper bro and a thin streak close to the edge of the part.
- Apply the bumper bro snugly to the bend in the bow and apply pressure until the part slips perfectly into place.
- Using tape or straps secure the Bumper Bro with a firm amount of pressure and allow an adequate time of 24 hours to set.
- Once the Goop has set, apply a single bead of silicone around the edge. This will stop water, sand, and other foreign objects from making their way in between the bumper bro that may cause the silicone to slowly wear away.
- Once the silicone has set your kayak is now water ready with that added protection to your kayak
Due to the shape of the Native Slayer 13 fixing the bumper bro may seem difficult to install. Using the following steps will give you a cleaner and more snug fit of the Bumper Bro to your kayak
- Like the original Bumper Bro, apply a generous amount of marine grade silicone through the centre of the bumper bro and a thin streak close to the edge and apply pressure to snugly fit your kayak.
- Unlike the bow, you may not be able to wrap straps or tape around your kayak to fasten the part whilst you wait for the silicone to set.
- Using fastening straps, thread both ends of the straps through the rear scupper holes of the kayak and apply as much pressure to the most corner side of the Bumper Bro.
- Tighten the straps accordingly until the Bumper Bro can no longer slip back and forth.
- Apply a second strap around the kayak along the middle section of the Bumper Bro which will pull the part flush against your kayak. Allow adequate setting time before removing the straps.
- Finally, apply a single bead of silicone around the edge of the Bumper Bro to seal the part to your kayak and will reduce water and sand wear that will slowly cause the Bro to remove itself.
- Once the silicone is set your kayak is now water ready and well protected from the elements where the Bumper Bro is installed.
