Fitting a Side Bro Using Silicone

The BerleyPro Side Bro is a compact purpose-built tackle and tool storage system designed for anglers who want their essential gear organised, visible and always within arm’s reach. The Side Bro can be mounted directly to your kayak, boat, fishing setup, cooler or chair, which keeps tackle and tools you use most often exactly where you need them.

One of the best features of the Side Bro is the ability to customize setup, along with the variety of mounting options to suit your individual needs. In this tutorial we will demonstrate how to go about installing a Side Bro with silicon.

Planning The Fit-Out
Mounting should begin with some planning and consideration. If you end up installing a Side Bro in a position you later regret silicon will leave you with a bit of a mess to clean up. While it's easy enough to undo whatever you do with silicon youi may as well try and get it right first time around. With that said, lets get started!

Step 1:
Before starting, you should map out where you want your Side Bro to mount, ensuring it will fit without obstruction.

Step 2:
The cleanliness of the mating surface and the Backing Bro is essential to get good adhesion.  We recommend the use of isopropyl alcohol or white vinegar and a clean rag to thoroughly prepare the surface.

Step 3:
Use a straight edge, ruler, or level, along with a Sharpie pen to mark where your Side Bro will mount.

Step 4:
Attach the Backing Bro to the Rear of the Side Bro, utilising the supplied stainless steel hardware. All you need is a Phillips head screwdriver.

Step 5:
Apply a continuous bead of silicone to the rear of the Backing Bro, approximately 15mm in from the edge, along with some through the middle of the plate. Don’t overdo this, as it will lead to excessive amounts of silicone to clean up later.

Step 6:
Align and carefully press the Side Bro into position, guided by the marking you made at Step 3. While the silicone is still wet, you can make small adjustments to the position. If any silicone oozes out from behind the Backing Bro, you can use isopropyl alcohol or white vinegar on a rag to clean up excess.

Step 7:
Utilise strips of electrical tape or masking tape to secure the Side Bro while the curing of the silicone takes place. Individual curing times will depend upon the product used and atmospheric conditions.

Step 8:
Once dry, remove the tape and enjoy your Side Bro. Don’t forget to add some Divided Bro’s and a Tool Bro for enhanced organization for your gear.
