Complete steering upgrade kit with new handle wheel and high-strength upgraded cords for smoother, more responsive rudder control.
The handle wheel is designed to allow the steering to wrap right around the front to give the rudder a full turn. This needs to be combined with the rear disc to work correctly but this can be used as a replacement on Chinese kayaks with the same handle where they have rudders that drop over the back.
Compatibility:
Fits most Native Watercraft models (Slayer, Titan, etc.) and similar kayaks with the standard steering system. Straightforward bolt-on replacement. Usually takes 15–30 minutes.

Disappointed!
Installed and first time out the cable loosened up within the first 10 minutes on the water. Went home and went to loosen the screws and now the cord is frayed to where I can’t tighten anymore for fear it will break then I’m out a steering upgrade!

Native Watercraft Steering Upgrade
The pulley disc did not fit in the well of my slayer 10. the bottom of the disc was touching somewhere in the well. I ended up using my stock pulley to make it work without binding. Other than that, the product is great. turns on a dime..

I didnt realize that this was shipping from austrailia. Took 16 days for item to ship, still have not recieved.. it will be a month in a couple days. My sterring broke so I am kayak less until it arrives.. buy from with in your company unless you want to wait over a month to recieve.

I recently bought the steering upgrade kit and the improved rudder for my Native craft 13 yak. The original kit on the yak for steering was disappointing in use and the rudder did little to speedily turn the yak when under way. Both upgrades are well made, were easy to install (with really helpful back up from Martyn at BerleyPro) and significantly improve the turning response of the yak now. No comparison to the original kit performance fitted by Nativecraft. Very highly recommend here products.

Major Upgrade & the Best Customer Support!
I purchased the Native Watercraft steering upgrade, tensioner plate, & rudder. My only regret is not doing it sooner. My Native Slayer Propel turns on a dime! It's also easier to turn as well. The steering upgrade removes all of the slop & is much smoother. The rudder is fantastic as well. It is much shorter than the other brand being sold. That means it doesn't catch on the ground when loading, etc. It isn't metal, so it won't bend either, which was a problem for me. Quality is top notch. If you're on the fence about buying these BerleyPro upgrades, then stop waiting. Buy them & you'll be happier that you did. Trust me.
