Information & Installation
Brudder FAQ
Which Hobie models does The Brudder fit?
It is a direct replacement for Hobie Outback (2019+), Hobie Compass, and Hobie Compass Duo.
What makes The Brudder better than the stock Hobie rudder?
It’s significantly larger, stiffer, and drops deeper into the water. The billet aluminum shaft and blade eliminate flex, while the bigger surface area delivers tighter turns (especially at low speed) and superior straight-line tracking.
What is it made from?
CNC-machined 6061 marine-grade aluminum shaft and blade, 5-axis CNC acetal side plates, marine anodized finish, and stainless steel fasteners. Proudly made in Australia.
How difficult is the installation?
Installation is pretty straight forward - most of our customers complete it in 10-15 minutes. It’s a direct bolt-on replacement using the existing mounting points. No drilling required. View our Brudder Installation Guide
Does it include the spring mechanism?
Yes. It uses a stronger spring than stock for reliable deployment and automatic retraction over obstacles.
Will it improve performance in wind and chop?
Yes - customers report noticeably better tracking and less rudder flutter in rough conditions.
