Native Watercraft / Bonafide Heavy Duty Steering Handle Upgrade

Of course, this isn’t the first time I have purchased one of these handles. I love these upgrades and there’s absolutely no comparison to the stock handle. It’s smooth. It’s solid, and it’s not going to break down on you while you’re on the water. Shipping and handling was also fast. It’s a great product and you can’t go wrong with it!

All I can say is, it was worth the purchase. much more stable & secure. Especially when trolling in the Great Lakes. We did a Berley pro handle & Tite Lok steering with a Boone Dox rudder & I like it. Would definitely recommend to hobbyist & fisherman.

Sent wrong part got in touch with customer service they then sent replacement plate made package signature required not sure why and now having difficulty getting product from post office very frustrating

Titan 10.5 owner. Complete nightmare. I bought the “upgraded” handle assembly and t-lock system. Cables would not stay on handle pulley for a single turn due to the pulley sitting to low compared to the cable guides. After a bunch of back and forth with the owner, who suggested i move the factory manufactured cable guides, he sent me a 3D printed plastic riser to better align the pulley and cable guides. I had to find replacement flat head screws to get it to work. I can get about 5 hours of fishing in before is slips off the pulley now. He also did not publish my first review of the product so….take the reviews with a grain of salt he seems to post the most favorable ones. If this one does not go up, I will be doing a YouTube video with all the details of the failures and the email exchange.

Best steering upgrade yet! Took all the play out of the stock handle. Super sturdy, does not feel like it might break like the stock handle. Well made and looks sharp!

I will never purchase another item from BP, nor will I recommend the products to anyone else. Ordered the complete BP steering upgrade for my Native Watercraft Titan 10.5 as a Christmas gift to myself. Shipping took a minute, but to be expected, it came from Australia. Upon first inspection, very impressive. The machine work is nice and the tolerances are tight. Everything is super durable and the finish is nice to look at.
The problems came when I put it on the boat. The BP pulley set close to 12 mm to low and allowed the cables to cam over the top of the pulley and lose tension. Luckily this happen in the garage and not on the water. Took it apart and put it back together numerous times with the same results. This is also when I realized BP instructions and instructional videos leave much to be desired. Contact BO and Martyn got back to me quickly. I know they are a small company so I appreciated the fact he tried to take care of the customers…at least in the beginning. Explained the problem, sent pictures of the issue and was told I would need a new “bush.” Took a couple weeks, but received a new bush…the black piece between the handle and the shroud that covers the steering recess. It was EXACTLY the same as the original. Emailed back, because now I had been without my boat for weeks and bass season was quickly approaching, I was asked if I could drill out and reroute the cable guides to make the BP steering components work….f&@$ no. It you say your part is for a particular boat, it damn well better fit the boat without major modifications needed. I was told a spacer would be manufactured and sent to me. Weeks go by, no space. Email, no response. Finally I threaten to start writing reviews and I get an response…”part is in the way.” Part arrives and it is a 3D printed POS riser. Ugly as sin, but I was over two months into this mess and wanted to fish. I put everything together and there is not enough clearance between the steering pulley and top or the screws that hold the shroud to the bush. Emailed Martyn and several days later, no response. I will be making a YouTube video to document my ordeal and warn other NW owners of the issues. You can see the height discrepancy between the original handle pulley and the BP handle pulley.

The aluminum steering handle is nice and it’s an improvement. But, it’s a bit too tall for the seat frame bottom of the OG Native Slayer Propel 13. I wound up raising the seat 1/2” in front and 1” in the rear to eliminate the interference. It was rather straight forward using longer SS bolts and nylon spacers at both ends. And I actually prefer the slightly higher seating position!

Have had zero problems yet with any of my BerleyPro accessories and they have exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to purchase.

Very happy somebody made a legit handle upgrade for the native slayer. Only taken it out a couple times and it has been very good.

I do love my Titan 12 - if there wasn‘t the low-quality steering handle. It not only feels cheap to the touch and wiggles in place but it also works sloppily. The BerleyPro handle upgrade noticeably reduces the play - paired with the t-lock steering upgrade it‘s a completely new steering sensation.

Madde a huge difference for my steering

Took 2 weeks for delivery but that can be expected. My issue is there needs to be better instructions on how to attach the steering cable from the steering cable upgrade I purchased. You tube video doesn’t give you clear instructions how to tie and wrap cable around new handle. Some videos our 3 to 5 years old. Need newer up to date video to explain for new system thanks.

My other handle fell off in the lake. It looked good, but was wobbly. This handle went on easily and feels good without having to always correct direction.

The steering handle upgrade is so much better than the standard steering of the 12.5 max

My steering upgrade has made my Slayer 12.5 more maneuverable in the water and the raised steering position more comfortable.

Great product and great customer service. I ordered my Native Watercraft Aluminum Steering Handle for my 2020 Slayer 12.5 Max on 12/07/21 and received it at my Florida address on 12/12/21. Excellent quality product, very easy installation, no modifications or additional parts needed, performs and looks great.

I got one of the new steering controls and while the directions had not been upload I was able to figure it out and it's fantastic. Solved all my Titan steering issues. Can actually track down the lake hands free with motor on high.

I have yet to use the item but first impressions are good. Seems very well built with quality material. For what the kayak cost this is what it should come with not a plastic handle.

I had to change the whole handle by my self to use it on the slayer 10 2020 model

This handle made a world of difference in steering in my HooDoo Tempest 120. Not only is the new handle so much more durable than the stock one, it is so much smoother to operate too . The handle also allows farther movement resulting in a tighter turning radius than the stock handle.
